As every empire has an army, a currency, ideology, … and the style. Google’s is called Material Design. One can’t talk about digital aesthetics today without acknowledging it, one can’t design today without using it. I’m happy students found the way to subvert Google’s Material Design guidelines by following them. (Prof. Olia Lialina)
FAB (Floating Action Button) by TJ Schmitt (image above) is a wearable created using Google’s Material design guidelines.
Material is an adaptable system of guidelines, components, and tools that support the best practices of user interface design. Backed by open-source code, Material streamlines collaboration between designers and developers, and helps teams quickly build beautiful products.
As the guidelines are basically meant for UX and UI design, it also says it is meant to quickly build beautiful products – which, when you take these words literaly, mean you can basically build any product. Pay attention to Do’s and Don’ts.
