Katharina Pethke's film “Reproduction” - behind the scenes
Portraits in film – Reality has and is not a clear narrative. Film that deals with reality interprets and shapes it into a narratable reality. (en/de)
Katharina Pethke has explored the genre of portraiture in several of her documentary films. In her works, Pethke examines how social realities influence people’s biographies and how, on the other hand, people struggle to find opportunities within and outside this reality in order to be able to lead a life at all. Katharina Pethke studied in Hamburg and Cologne and was a professor at the HfbK in Hamburg from 2012 to 2019. She won the German Short Film Award in Gold and a Golden Dove at DOK Leipzig with her graduation film Louisa, and her current film Reproduction was invited to the Forum section of the Berlinale in 2024.
