What is the role of film and cinema today?
As filmmakers increasingly embrace new technologies and new contexts where video is shown, a wide range of challenges arise, where the blurring of the lines between formats and social contexts can become reflected in the blurring of the lines between formal and aesthetic questions, with the distinctions between documentary, narrative, and even performance art reflecting the shifting place film/video plays in our contemporary world.
With access to hands-on workshops and labs for video production, including VR and AR, students develop their projects against the backdrop of theoretical seminars. The program is best suited for students who are eager to explore the intersections of film, technology, and theoretical and political questions. Graduates are prepared to enter various fields within the film and media industry, particularly in roles that value experimentation and critical thinking. They might pursue careers in independent filmmaking, academia, cultural institutions, art, education or journalism.
