In my film “Taping Bodies”, I have experimented with applying tape on the bodies of models as a gesture of articulating a politics of gender representation. The tape on the bodies becomes a canvas that is subtracted and simultaneously creates an open space where I added various images of films and videos representing violence against women and constructions of masculinity. I taped each model individually, tracing their distinctive body lines and curves with the goal of observing their distinctiveness and as a form of drawing the space for the canvas. The documentation/construction of the taping process on the sequence of the shots can create the impression of fracturing the body, trying to reflect on what was in the models’ inner world into the depiction of the body.
