Peter Ott has been professor for Film and Video at the Merz Akademie since 2007 and the Dean of Studies from 2017 to 2023. He has worked on numerous projects in film and television in the role of writer and filmmaker, producer, but also cameraman, editor and even actor. His works range from feature films such as Amitié (together with Ute Holl, 2023) and The Milan-Protokoll (2018) to a number of documentaries. Together with students, he created the work Love under digital conditions (2022/23) for the exhibition “Love. What moves us.” at the Haus der Geschichte Baden-Württemberg and the series 100 Seconds of Art for SWR. In cooperation with Ute Holl, he has also created more experimental works such as the series Dreams, Clouds, Off, Exile (G-20 Remix). Peter Ott is also a member of the art-activist performance collective Schwabinggrad Ballett.
