Farewell ceremony for the graduates of the (digital) winter semester 2020/21

Not all graduates showed up for the photo session, but still: a nice photo in the sign of the times.

On Friday, February 5, 2021, the Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates were bid farewell online – but no less ceremoniously – by Prorector Maren Schmohl and Dean Prof. Peter Ott. Our AStA and our alumni e.V. addressed greetings to our graduates, the AStA partly in musical form.

Maren Schmohl, prorector, on online graduation:

When we celebrated the farewell last summer semester with distance and under strict hygiene regulations, we thought that this is quasi the climax of the Corona special cases, a one-time special… Well, as so often in recent months we were taught otherwise: There is nothing that does not exist in this strange time and so now we celebrate our first online farewell. The advantage is, we have room for everyone, even a whole big band.

Maren Schmohl congratulated the graduates of the winter semester 2020/21:

You have learned and accomplished a great deal over the past few years, have gone through ups and downs, and have now brought a great thing to a close. I have confidence in the education you have acquired at Merz Akademie and am sure that you are well prepared for a successful professional and social life. And I hope and wish for myself and for all of us that you will make more good decisions than ever on your future path. In this respect: Minds blown – minds grown – let’s go!

We warmly wish you all the best and congratulate you on the academic degree you have achieved!
