Mobile Medienschule Stuttgart Ost Starts Into the Second Project Year

09.10.2020

With the “Film and Radio Studio”, the Merz Akademie is one of four locations of the Mobile Medienschule Stuttgart Ost (MoMO), even after one year of project duration. The focus is on the creation of video clips, audio podcasts and radio plays. In cooperation with the Free Radio for Stuttgart, the children and young people can go live on air in a monthly radio show.

The Mobile Media School Stuttgart East has been in existence for a year now. In its open, regular and free media workshops, children and young people between the ages of 8 and 16 can engage creatively and critically-reflectively with media at four locations in eastern Stuttgart. The MoMO places particular emphasis on low-threshold, integration and inclusion. During the Corona period, the offering was adapted and additional online workshops and radio broadcasts were implemented in order to continue to reach children and young people in the district and beyond. The current situation now makes it possible to resume presence offerings in time for the start of the second project year – the pilot project is supported by the city of Stuttgart until the end of August 2021.

In addition to the Film and Radio Studio at the Merz Akademie, the Computerspielschule at the Stadtmedienzentrum offers experiments with games and programming, and the Kinder- und Jugendhaus Ostend has opened its new robotics workshop with exciting insights into electrical engineering, Arduino and microcontrollers. On the Aki Raitelsberg the Stadtteilreporter continue to report.

Another currently very important component of the MoMO is the support of teachers in learning with and about digital media. Together with schools and other educational institutions, individual workshop offers are developed that are tailored to the age, knowledge and needs of children and young people. In addition, the MoMO will continue to be represented in the vacation program of the city of Stuttgart with exciting and creative offers.
